Proofreading consists of editing the content line by line. We discuss grammatical and mechanical errors and any issues in style, tone, and word choice.
Proofreading is what I often tell my own students to do at the very last possible minute. While this isn’t always the case, it is important to understand that proofreading is the process of taking and fine tuning a final writing product that has already undergone revision.
It is often helpful to have an objective eye on your writing before submission whether it be a novel, query letter, professional report, resume or thesis.
Proofreading entails checking for grammatical, mechanical and spelling errors, as well as typos, repetition, spacing and format.
All writing benefits from being proofread by an experienced writing consultant.
